The nature of this work requires that clients and projects remain unnamed. What follows is an account of what was at stake and what was resolved.

Renovation & Restoration · Historic Residence

A historic estate restoration in which the process had become the problem

The estate had been in the family for generations. A substantial restoration program had been underway for two years when the family sought counsel. The challenges were not technical — the craftspeople engaged were among the finest available. The challenge was that the restoration had been allowed to develop its own momentum, drifting from the family's original intentions toward the preferences of the consultants most present on site.

My initial work was diagnostic: understanding the gap between where the project had arrived and where the family had intended it to go. Over the following year, I repositioned several consultant relationships, re-established the family's plan as the governing document, and introduced the operational planning necessary to staff and run the estate once restored. The family did not lose what had already been built — but they recovered ownership of what was still to come.

Outcome

Vision recovered. Consultant relationships reoriented. Estate now operating as intended.

New Construction · Multi-Structure Compound

A family compound with fourteen consultants and no single point of accountability

A family engaged me eighteen months into a ground-up construction project spanning a primary residence, guest structures, and extensive grounds. The consultant team was exceptional — the architect internationally recognized, the builder among the most respected in the region. But fourteen separate disciplines were operating in effective isolation. Decisions made in one domain were creating conflicts in three others. The owner was spending several hours each week managing the gap between parties who were each correct within their own scope.

Over the following six months, I established a unified decision framework, restructured the communication architecture across all consultants, and created the first integrated schedule the project had seen. Three significant conflicts — between structural engineering, mechanical systems, and the architectural intent — were resolved before they reached construction. The project delivered within the revised budget and on the renegotiated timeline.

Outcome

Restored clarity of vision. Owner's time returned. Project delivered with integrity intact.

Multi-Property Stewardship · Ongoing

Continuity of standards across properties

A family with principal residences in the US retained me to create operational coherence across all properties. Each had been managed independently, with separate vendor relationships, separate standards, and no shared architecture for how decisions were made. The family was carrying the coordination burden and the work had grown beyond what any single member should absorb.

I conducted a full audit of each property — physical condition, operational systems, vendor quality, staffing structure — and established a unified stewardship framework. Vendor relationships were consolidated where appropriate, standards were documented, and a decision-making structure was created so the family's staff had clear authority at each level without needing to escalate constantly. The properties now operate as a coherent portfolio rather than separate environments.

Outcome

Operational coherence established. Staff's burden substantially reduced. Standards consistent across all properties.
